About this site
CQV Field Reference is a free technical reference and training tool for people who commission, qualify and validate equipment in pharmaceutical and biotechnology manufacturing. It covers the test steps for 112 kinds of instrument and system, 92 method pages, and 16 training tracks. Every acceptance limit links to the regulation, standard or guidance document it comes from.
It is maintained by Kevin, a CQV engineer in Cedar Park, Texas, and is not affiliated with any regulator, standards body or vendor.
Who it is for
Validation and qualification engineers, metrology and calibration technicians, quality assurance staff, and engineering students entering the industry. The material is professional and technical: it assumes you work in a regulated manufacturing environment or are training to.

For network administrators
If this site is blocked by a web filter, it is almost certainly because the domain is new and has not yet been categorised, rather than because of anything it does. The following may help in reviewing it:
- Suggested category: Business / Technical Reference, or Education / Reference. It is not social media, file sharing, streaming, gaming, webmail or personal storage.
- The site is entirely static. It is HTML, CSS and JavaScript served over HTTPS from Cloudflare Pages, with no database and no server-side processing.
- It contains no dynamic code generation, no obfuscated or packed script, and no remote code loading. A Content Security Policy restricts every resource to this origin.
- Outbound links point to regulators and standards bodies (FDA, EMA, ISPE, USP, ISO, ASTM and similar), which are cited as sources. Those links open in a new tab and are not loaded by the page.
- Security headers in use: Content-Security-Policy, Strict-Transport-Security, X-Content-Type-Options, X-Frame-Options, Referrer-Policy and Permissions-Policy.
- A machine-readable contact is published at /.well-known/security.txt, and a crawl policy at /robots.txt and /sitemap.xml.
Accessibility
The site is built to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. That is the level courts use as the benchmark when they apply the Americans with Disabilities Act and California’s Unruh Civil Rights Act to websites (they cite version 2.1, and 2.2 includes all of it). Every release is checked with automated tests and with checks automated tools cannot make, such as moving through the screens with the keyboard alone.
- Everything works from the keyboard, including the diagrams and exercises. Tab moves between controls, Enter or Space activates them, and the first Tab stop is a link that skips to the page content.
- Screen readers get a title for each view, a name for every control, and an announcement when an exercise or quiz gives feedback. Each chart has its values written out beside it.
- Text can be enlarged with the Text size setting on the home page or with browser zoom, and the pages reflow to fit a screen 320 pixels wide without sideways scrolling.
- Color is never the only signal, text contrast meets Level AA in the light and dark themes, and the site follows your system’s reduced-motion setting.
Known limitations:
- The drawn charts and the 3D cold room show their information as pictures. The same values are written out next to each one, but the pictures are not described point by point.
- The numbered markers on the equipment and network drawings are small on a phone. Each drawing has a row of full-size buttons for the same parts underneath it.
- Linked documents from regulators, standards bodies and vendors are outside this site’s control.
If something on the site does not work for you, use the “Report an error” link on any equipment page, say what you were trying to do, and what assistive technology or browser you use. Accessibility problems are handled the same way as content errors.

Accuracy and intended use
The test steps and acceptance criteria here are draft reference text. They are not a controlled document and they do not replace your own approved protocols, site procedures or the judgement of your quality unit. Check every limit against the cited source and against your own requirements before you rely on it. Where a claim rests on a paywalled standard, the site says so and supports the claim with what is freely available.
If you find an error, use the "Report an error" link that appears on every equipment page.
